Lake Wheeler Traffic Pattern

Rowers must follow the traffic pattern (see map below) at Lake Wheeler. Some things to keep in mind about the traffic pattern are as follows:

  • The traffic pattern is counter clockwise, keeping the orange buoys (labeled B1-B13 on the diagram below) on your port side, and No Wake buoys (labeled NW A1, NW B1, NW C1 and NW E1 on the diagram below) on your starboard side.
  • Slower crews must yield to the outside to allow faster crews to pass along the buoy line.
  • Shells moving along the traffic pattern always have the right of way.
  • Shells crossing to and from the dock or moving perpendicular to the traffic pattern never have the right of way.
